BUOY FIELDS ON THE BALEARIC ISLANDS

The Balearic archipelago consists of the main islands of Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera, which can be sailed almost all year round. More and more bays are being covered with buoys in consideration of the underwater flora. There are a total of 7 buoy fields around the Balearic Islands. All of them are now subject to a fee.

The buoys are designed and bookable for the period between 01.06. and 30.09. (until 09:00 on the day of arrival). Arrivals must be scheduled between 12:00 and 18:00. On the day of departure the buoys must be left by 11:00. Fees are staggered according to boat length. The current buoy fields on the Balearic Islands are listed below:

  • MALLORCA: Sa Dragonera/Sant Elm, Cala Blava
  • MENORCA: Cala Fornells, Illa den Colom
  • IBIZA/FORMENTERA: Caló de s’Oli, Ses Salines, S’Espalmador

VISIT TO THE ISLAND OF CABRERA

Visiting the island of Cabrera, about 10sm off Mallorca’s south coast, is a popular cruising destination. The almost uninhabited island offers pure nature and is designated as a nature reserve. To protect nature, certain restrictions and regulations have been introduced which, among other things, also regulate the number of visitors. For example, even a one-day visit to the island with one’s own or charter boat requires a permit that is issued annually to the respective boat.

It is also important to note that anchoring is strictly prohibited in the entire area of the island. In the natural harbour of Puerto de Cabrera, however, there are 50 buoys available for anchoring which must be reserved in advance. Those who do not have a reservation will be asked to leave the bay in the evening.

Reserving a buoy on Cabrera is done via the Cabrera National Park website and is subject to a fee. The fees are graduated according to the season and the length of the boat and must be paid via the internet with Visa or Mastercard. Reservations can be made starting 20 days in advance.

Reservations for the buoys must be made directly through the above website. Please note that we are not able to make reservations for you.
