Frequently Asked Questions FAQ CREWED DAY CHARTER

Welcome to our FAQ on crewed day charters in Mallorca and Ibiza. We have listed the most frequently asked questions and our answers below. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Where in the Balearic Islands are the day charter yachts located?

On Mallorca we offer day charter yachts in Palma de Mallorca, Port Calanova, Puerto Portals, our home port, Port Adriano as well as Port d’Andratx. On the sister island of Ibiza, yachts are mainly offered from Ibiza Town.

How to select the perfect day charter yacht?

Finding the perfect crewed day charter yacht for your group depends mainly on your preferences in terms of design, watersports equipment and service, as well as your budget. The number of guests plays an important role, as charter yachts in the Balearic Islands are usually licensed from 9 to 12 guests. If you’d like us to give you advice, simply let us know your criteria and we’ll be happy to suggest yachts that match your requirements.

How to select the itinerary?

We have prepared some suggested itineraries for your day charter in Mallorca, which you can find here. Some destinations can be easily combined with a visit to a restaurant or beach club for lunch, while others, such as Cabrera and Es Trenc, require catering on board your yacht. If you don’t yet know which route to choose, just give us a call or drop us a line – we’ll be happy to advise you.

What time does a day charter charter start and end?

A day charter has a duration of 8 hours and normally starts at 10:00 (ends at 18:00), 10:30 (ends at 18:30) or 11:00 (ends at 19:00).

Are half-day charters offered?

In the early and late season, some day charter yachts offer the possibility of half-day (4 hours) charters. Simply enquire and we will let you know the possibilities. In high season, half day charters are only offered if the boat does not have a booking for the next day.

How much fuel should be budgeted for a day charter?

Fuel consumption varies greatly between yachts and will depend on the itinerary you are heading for. The speed of the boat and the weather on the day of the charter also have an important role to play. Upon request, we can give you an estimate for the yacht and route of your choice.

How to book a day charter yacht?

Please let us know what type of yacht you are looking for, how many people you will be and your preferred dates and we will send you our available offers that match your requirements. If you decide on one of the options, please let us know at short notice and send us a copy of your ID and your billing address so that we can prepare the contract for you. Once the contract is signed by you and all other relevant parties, a down payment will be required to secure the charter date. For some day charter yachts the down payment is 50% of the charter price excluding extras, for others full payment is required to guarantee the date. We will send you full details of payment requirements as part of the contract.

What is the payment procedure for the day charter?

The down payment is paid after signing the contract, ideally by bank transfer to the account specified in the contract. For payments from the UK or USA, where international transfers can be challenging, we provide credit card payment links for common credit cards other than Amex. Payments to be made on site at check-in can be made using standard credit cards other than Amex. Fuel is payable directly at the petrol station by credit card or cash.

What is included in the charter fee?

The charter fee includes boat hire, insurance and local VAT. For some boats crew and final cleaning is also included, for other yachts it is shown as a mandatory extra. You will find this information on our website, in our offers and on the charter contract. Some yachts include towels and some soft drinks, others do not, we will let you know in advance. Many yachts can accommodate additional watersports equipment, which is listed as optional extra and can be booked on request. Not included on all yachts is gasoline according to consumption and gratuity to the crew.

Is tipping the crew customary?

Yes, tipping the crew is customary and the amount of the tip depends on your satisfaction with the charter.

What is an APA and how does it work?

Some of the larger day charter yachts operate with an APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) to cover incidental expenses, payable by credit card or cash on embarkation. It mainly covers the cost of fuel and food. All bills are collected and presented to you by the crew and the balance is reimbursed in a timely manner. Please refer to your contract for further details.

What is a security deposit and how does it work?

When checking in in the morning either at our office for yachts departing from Port Adriano or directly on the yacht, a security deposit is required. The amount of the security deposit varies depending on the yacht. The security deposit is intended to cover any damage to the boat for which the guests are responsible.

How can catering and drinks be ordered?

We work with a number of partners who deliver drinks, snacks and catering to your yacht before the charter. We will send you the order lists in the course of the booking process and will be happy to coordinate your orders. Payment is made directly with our partners.

Can own food and drinks be brought on board?

Yes, of course. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and food on board the yachts. If possible, please prefer plastic bottles and containers to glass bottles and containers so that they cannot cause damage to the boat if they fall and break.

Which water sports equipment can be booked with day charter yachts?

In the exposés of our yachts you will find an overview of the water sports equipment included. In addition, Seabob, paddleboards, fliteboards and much more can be booked with most of our yachts. Simply ask and we will send you a list of the available options.

What happens if the charter is cancelled due to bad weather?

There is rarely bad weather in Mallorca during high season. However, if it is not possible to sail the yacht and your captain decides to cancel the charter for safety reasons, we will do our best to reschedule. If this is not possible, you will receive a refund.
